The Reform movement has been working on creating a new High Holiday prayerbook (Mahzor). The older one was written in 1978 and needs updating. The new one will be similar in design and theology as the new Siddur that we use here at SBE, Mishkan T’filah. The Mahzor will be called Mishkan Teshuvah.

As Rabbi Wise is on the prayerbook committee, our synagogue has been asked to pilot the Mahzor as it gets written over the next few years. The first draft of the Rosh Hashanah morning service has been created and our job is to have a mock Rosh Hashanah service using the new prayerbook and afterwards discuss its merits and present our feedback to the prayerbook committee.

We will pilot the Mahzor during Saturday morning services on April 9th, beginning at 10 am to give us a little extra time. After the Kiddush, our ritual committee will gather your comments and then meet to put together a document of our feedback. Please join us for this exciting project.
